Site Surveys is a series of performances addressing the cumulative effects of repeating simple practices over time. For each performance, I walked from my home to sites of current or prospective development with lengths of surveyor’s flag tape hung from my belt.  I then tied the flag tape to an object or post near the site until all the tape had been used up and a mass of orange plastic had accumulated.

Typically used to delineate property boundaries or mark significant points in a defined territory, the surveyor’s tape in these projects was used to signal the passage of time spent in a single space, as evidenced by the amassing of the knotted form.
