How to Tie a Bow-tie was a series of one-on-one performances in which I taught participants how to tie a bow-tie. By employing demonstration as a pedagogical technique, one in which participants learn through observation and repetition, the performance establishes an interdependency and reciprocity between myself and each participant

 

How to Tie a Bow-tie presents fashion as a system of complex gender and class coding and considers the subtle and discursive influences effecting sartorial form among individuals and groups.
