And in of the grain a force and in of the grain a feeling includes handwoven cloth, drawings, small objects, an audio work, and made-on-site sculpture. The work began with a study of Marguerite Porter Davison’s A Handweaver’s Pattern Book, but developed into a reflection on the ways material practices are abstracted and systemized for the sake of dissemination and the enculturation of those who adopt or are obliged to perform the practice.
